BOOK FESTIVAL INTRO
Its that time of year again! The Cheraw Black Author's Lab is getting ready to open its doors to the community for its 2nd annual Book Festival. Come out and celebrate Black Literature. This year our featured authors are Dr. Tracey Mack-Powell, Montril L. Jones, and Linda Orji. Not only are they authors but amazing and inspiring speakers who have gone above and beyond in their works of art and have truly redefined the writing game. They are a true exemplification of the late Toni Morrison,
"If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, you must be the one to write it."The event is open to the public.
Activities include story telling, poetry, spoken word, jazz, books for sale, meet and greet with the authors and a writer's workshop.
The Cheraw Black Author's Lab and Book Festival was founded by Michael Strong. Wallace, SC, Erica Malachi, a Cheraw native, and Clay Scott of Hamlet, NC.
We felt it was appropriate that our founders, with southern local roots choose the birthplace of the late great Dizzy Gillespie to launch our project.
