The mission of Heroes on the Water is to help warriors relax, rehabilitate and reintegrate into society through kayak fishing and the outdoors.

Event Details

Since the start of the Lowcountry SC HOW Chapter we have taken men and women of all branches of the armed services out kayak fishing, we have learned firsthand the ‘triple therapy’ of kayak fishing – physical with paddling and fishing, occupational in learning new skills and a sport they can do for life, and mental in the relaxation and freedom out on the water. The Lowcountry SC Heroes on the Water (HOW) Chapter invites veterans, active duty military and first responders to a day of kayak fishing on the Ashley River. We will be launching from Howard Bridgman River Access. Address is: 200 Renken Road, Summerville, SC 29485 (32°57'30.6"N 80°12'01.9"W).
Join us for our fourth event of the year as we paddle, fish, heal. After a fun filled morning of fishing for bream, largemouth bass, crappie, catfish and whatever else will bite. Lunch will be provided by HOW volunteers. No experience or equipment necessary, Lowcountry SC HOW Chapter will provide everything needed to get our heroes out on the water. Lowcountry SC HOW Chapter request that all Volunteers and Participates to sign up for the events through Eventbrite as for the purposes of headcount for lunch, for number of kayaks & equipment needed, and if the participate requires a fishing license.
