Event Details
The history of Charleston can be told many ways. In The Sound of Charleston, we tell that story through music, which has been a part of the lifeblood of the city for 250 years. . Gospel spirituals; Gullah stories; music of George Gershwin, who wrote “Porgy and Bess” here; jazz; music of the Civil War; and light classics of the venerable St. Cecelia Society are included in every program. “Amazing Grace” concludes every program since composer John Newton worshipped at Circular Church and received inspiration. Our 7 Holiday Shows include songs of the season in the festively decorated church.
